This is an integration that we have performed hundreds of times before. Our touch screen navigation retrofit for Audi Q5 (8R) now includes the latest iGo Primo user interface and Navteq mapping which is normally updated every 3 months. This combination provides great functionality, stability and up-to-date mapping information. This same system is also available for Audi A4 (B8/8K) and Audi A5 (8T) There is a similar version available for Audi A1 (8X) and Q3 (8U) models.
Aside from having the latest mapping, this system also includes some other useful features such as a database of safety cameras, (speed and red light etc.) and warnings for other areas such as school zones.
We often get asked about the differences between the Autofidelity Integrated touch screen navigation system and some of the other products that you might see out there. There are several, but here are a few to get you started:
1. Dedicated navigation
Surely we have all heard the saying “jack of all trades, but master of none”. This system has been designed to be a great navigation system, and offer the best performance and function as a GPS navigation system. It doesn’t offer Bluetooth, music interface, DVD player or any other features which would generally mean that we would need to compromise on the GPS navigation functions. If you are looking for a system which will include all of these types of features, we would recommend that you consider an upgrade to Audi MMI 3G or Audi MMI 3G+, which we also have available.
2. Integrated design
Integration is often referred to in the context of how a product looks or works, but is rarely referred to in the context of how a product is actually connected into a vehicle. The reality is that in many cases, the actual navigation module might be placed in a position which is not accessible for you, and even worse, shoved in behind a panel or just cable tied to something else behind the dash. This side of a navigation is rarely seen, and not even considered by most people, but it is important. For instance, what happens when you need to access the navigation module to update to the latest maps, and why would you want modules floating around loosely behind panels or just shoved in somewhere. What is different about the Autofidelity Integrated touch screen navigation system is that it is designed specifically for your vehicle. For instance, the Audi Q5 system contains stainless steel brackets to mount the module set, which is then mounted neatly and securely at the back of the car behind an access panel which can be reached quickly and easily. There is a complete wiring harness which runs from those modules towards the front of the car which is a purpose built wiring harness, including fabric wrapping. We utilise existing factory fuse positions, not just tap onto another wire in the car.
We could go on an on about this, but our general attitude is that many of the things that you don’t see are highly important to the functionality and reliability of not only your navigation system, but to your entire vehicle.
3. Tried and tested
We have performed this integration many hundreds of times and have refined the product and process over the years. You can be sure that your getting a great quality system which will last for years to come. Just to back that up, we provide a 3 year warranty with this system when installed by our technicians.
If you are considering this integrated solution, we would also recommend that you consider the integrated rear view camera system for a more complete solution.
