Considering how difficult it is to see behind you when you are reversing the Volkswagen Amarok, a rear view camera system seems essential. This system is integrated with an existing RNS-315, but it is also compatible with RNS-510 and RCD-510. For vehicles without an existing full colour display, we can also retrofit the genuine VW infotainment units mentioned above.
With this integrated rear view camera system, your existing display will switch automatically to the camera image when the car is in reverse, and you will retain the Optical Parking System (OPS) display if you have it already. The camera itself can be mounted neatly at the rear of the vehicle. Because there are quite a few options for the Amarok for different types of trays, we prefer to use a camera which is compatible with all tray types and which is height adjustable for the best view.
We can also retrofit the Genuine Volkswagen Amarok highline rear camera system which includes dynamic (moving) guidelines which move with the steering position to show trajectory. The genuine system is compatible with RNS-510, RCD-510 and RNS-315 units.
If you are looking to integrate a rear camera to your VW Amarok, you may want to check that your infotainment unit is compatible first. For instance there are some RCD-510 units that do not have facility for a camera input, and this may also be the case with some other models in the future. The simplest and most reliable way to check this is to physically remove the unit and check if it has the correct connections on the back. We can check this for you in our workshop so that you can confirm compatibility before proceeding with having the entire system fitted.
This system is also compatible with other VW vehicles fitted with RCD-510, RNS-315 and RNS-510 units.
